Nido student living King's Cross London

Location: London

Task: Design consultancy, Concept Design and Design Guidelines

Collaboration: Tp Bennett LLP, London - Winkreative, London

Creating housing for 800 students in the heart of London was the mission for the UK's leading property developer, The Blackstone Group. MACH was tasked with transforming an old two-tower office building into handsome accommodations for young students.

The Nido brand intended to represent a community, not just a collection of individual rooms. Public spaces such as a gym and a store were envisaged from the outset, always with the ulterior motive of their socializing function. For the accommodations, the concept went more in the direction of 'mini-apartments' than just bedrooms. The ingeniously designed spaces are meant to create micro zones with different functions - from eating to studying - each with an individual design and mood. The project turned out to be a storybook example of contemporary compact living and building a brand based on a strong foundation.
