First Floor Plan
When remodeling the home of a hospitality and lifestyle entrepreneur, the goal was to add a floor and completely redesign the kitchen. In the attic, an open area with dressing room, bathroom and adjoining master bedroom was desired. The project met the client's high demands for functionality, design and quality with a clear design idea, refined details and high-quality materials.
An almost four-meter-long workbench made of rustic oak, countertops made of frosted Carrara marble and fine brass elements transform the kitchen into a classy studio that invites people to cook and linger together. The oven and food center are integrated into a wild service tree wood cabinet that transforms into a library on its reverse side.
A spiral staircase cladded with wooden slats leads to the attic. The bathroom, dressing room and bedroom flow into one another, reminiscent of the ambience of a wellness hotel. A floor-to-ceiling mirror visually doubles the area of the bathroom, while a sliding mirror in front of the window provides a view over the rooftops of Zurich. The wardrobe in the dressing room is hidden behind a slatted oak wall. It has a surprising interior with an ingenious two level system, one behind the other: there are shelving walls in front, and clothes rails and high shelves behind them. A second wardrobe is located behind the high burnished mirrors, which indirectly illuminate the room. The slatted wall continues into the sleeping area and even integrates a minibar in the rounded corner element.
A mix of high-quality materials and a Japanese-like simplicity run throughout the entire conversion.
